Getting my moneh's worth. ;)
I grew up in a middle-class family where thriftiness is prized. Mum and dad set a good example, what can I say? =P Anything to put the blame on them.
Anyway, my point is... I like getting good deals, and utilizing purchases to the maximum. In fact, the cheaper something is, and the more I use it, the more satisfaction I get out of that purchase.
...Which is also probably one of the reasons I don't mind Rene wearing my dresses/skirts/blouses/whatever she wants. Showing up in a dress others have seen before on Rene? Not a problem for me either. I mean, who cares. We're sisters, what looks good on me probably looks better on her. ;)
Below is a list of things which have lasted for YEARS, cost only a bit, and have been properly utilized to the maximum:
1. My Camel Mountain hiking bag
No, I don't hike (unless forced to), in case you were wondering. Mum bought this way back in 2009 when I first had to go over to KL. Cost approx RM 60. I've used it numerous times - practically each time I travel KUL-KCH, and on the countless weekends I spent at Ray's place in Subang Jaya. A friend has also borrowed it for camping purposes. It's very useful, and it's still in rather good shape. No obvious signs of wear and tear, just some sticky patches caused by those annoying security scan stickers. Hate those. =P
2. My Nicole purple polo tee
It's purple, in case it's so faded you can't tell. Now this was bought way back in Form 3, I think. That's so long ago I can't even remember the year. =P Back then it cost only RM 19.90, and I'm still wearing it to this day because it's still comfy and wearable. Mum occasionally asks me when I'm going to condemn it (to the rag bin) but hey, I could get a few more years out of it at this rate. Hehe.
Oh and you DON'T get Nicole tees for so cheap nowadays. Trust me, I've tried looking.
3. My trusty Nokia 1860
RM 180, if my memory doesn't fail me. Bought in 2008. Gave me 4 years of good service. It's still with me even though I'm using a Samsung Ace Plus (yet another cheap phone =P) now. Keeping it...in case of emergencies? *shrugs* I love to calculate the amount of money I've saved by not getting a more expensive phone. xD
4. My purse
Bought last year around May cuz I coerced/convinced my sis to get it for me as a birthday present. Cost only RM 10. I don't think I'll ever get expensive purses anymore - they wear out too quickly and even if they don't, in one year they're so shabby I'll want to replace them anyway. Back to the subject at hand. Due to the material, my RM 10 purse has been used for 1.5 years and still looks shiny. Best thing is, no one can ever guess the real price 'cause it looks elegant enough. Wheee.
Along with buying stuff at Rm 5 cheaper than they're sold elsewhere, these are the little things that make me happy. Heehee.
