Scrub that!

Cleaning the house is a good way to take your mind off things. This is when my mild OCD kicks in and helps me to get absorbed in removing every little spot of grease on countertop (oh, there’s another one), and then moving on to yet another chore because it’s related to the area that I’m cleaning (might as well soak ‘em rags as well), to the point where my thoughts and emotions take a backseat for a while. Very useful if you don’t really wanna wallow in whatever confusing emotion you’re feeling.

It’s also a good way to feel productive, especially because you’re relatively unproductive in comparison to your friends back home who will be starting work next week. Funny how my subconscious urges me to keep up with everyone else, even though my path is so different from theirs. Must be that deeply ingrained competitiveness spurring me on. As long as they were idle, I could be idle, but now that they've started to work, I have to…clean the house!

That really sounded more reasonable and rational in my head. =P

I’m still using my brain if I’m deciding how much food to buy for three people, planning what we’re going to eat for lunch and dinner, and strategizing wisely in order to beat the expiry date on things, right? I hope being a housewife won’t bring on an early onset of Alzheimer’s. Or maybe I should regularly solve mathematics problems like figuring out the tip to keep my mind active and sharp. =P

On second thought, maybe I’ll let JW figure that out.
