Baby names. =P

Ok I'm back. I missed writing so much, so I decided I HAD to set aside some time this morning to blog.

It's been a hectic past 2 weeks, what with all my cooking adventures, serving in the Kids' Ministry, volunteering to do Sticky Note bibles at the Pregnancy Support Services, small group, a never-ending book list and the like. I like the fact that my small group meets mid-week, so it feels like I have activities throughout the week instead of busy weekends.

Long story short, I feel like I'm becoming increasingly fruitful and productive with my time, not least due to Karen's willingness to take me under her wing to participate in all these volunteer ministries. Karen's part of my small group, and she's so vibrant and inspiring with her passion to minister to single mothers or women with unplanned pregnancies. And she's 60. SIXTY. I didn't even know that kind of energy exists at SIXTY. She makes ME feel like I'm the old one. If that's the kind of energy that the Holy Spirit produces in us in accordance with our passion for ministry, I want all of it.

Anyway, random thing that happened recently :

JW : What's our daughter's name going to be again?
May : Arden.
JW : Ah yes. What about our son?
May : Aidan. And if we have a second son, Asher.
JW : What if we have a second daughter?
May : Then we'll call her...Alamak. Cuz we didn't think of a name for her. =P

Disclaimer : I am NOT pregnant. It's always nice to think of baby names to file away for the future. You should start doing it too. =P

That aside, if you're observant, you'd have figured out a pattern to the kind of names we like. We like five letter, two-syllable names which aren't too common. I have something against long names because I have this recurring vision of my kids in kindergarten learning to write and spell their names. Imagine your kid writing "My name is Evangeline Amethyst Pan" 15 times while her friend writes "My name is Eli Tan" 15 times. It is so grossly unfair.

Jia Wern and I also happen to like middle names because they make - I'll quote him here - "a proper English name". If the names become too long because of that, I think I'll have a word with their kindergarten teacher about omitting their middle names when the time comes to do the aforementioned homework. =P We haven't decided on the middle names yet, so yay another thing to ruminate upon!

Okay I got sidetracked a bit looking up middle names. Maybe I should just end this post here to look up more middle names...Hmm, "Daric" sounds interesting... =P
