The continuation

This post is a continuation (of sorts) of the last post.

Since coming back to campus, many people have asked me, "So, how does it feel to be married?"

My answer is, it doesn't feel any different, actually. Maybe I feel more secure and happy because I don't have to worry about breaking up with him anymore or being estranged by the distance (things will only get worse if I'm posted to a rural area with no internet connection), but otherwise, I don't feel like getting married opened my eyes up to a whole new world. Or something equally dramatic.

Perhaps I don't feel very different because I've been in this relationship for six and a half years, and we've gotten so used to each other already. In other words, we're comfy with each other. So yeah, I'm probably past that fireworks and romance phase. Got over it like 5.5 years ago. =P Besides, we were always the committed sort. *shrugs* Not much of a culture shock there.

Or maybe the reason why I don't feel very different is because we don't have a baby yet. Ask me when I have a baby and I'll probably give you a very interesting answer. =P

That aside, I'd like to write something about every different experience I've had in the past month.

The week before the wedding : My birthday was the best I've ever had in my entire life so far because Jia Wern did this sneak survey thing about what others liked about me, and he also took note of all my favourite foods so that he could take me on a food hunt. We spent the whole day together and had fun. <3

Other than that, though, it was really stressful because all I wanted was to get the wedding over and done with. Until and unless it was over, I would have to worry about forgetting details and that things would go wrong. Needless to say, I wasn't a very pleasant person to deal with, and once the wedding was over I felt So. Much. Better. I was worried that the person I was before the wedding IS my truest character under pressure, but Jolina assured me that weddings are a once in a lifetime thing, and are uber stressful, so I shouldn't judge my character based on that.

The wedding day : Blogged about that already.

The honeymoon at Cove 55 : absolutely fantastic. The place was so private and peaceful, we were pampered with all sorts of luxuries (think a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite and Asprey toiletries)...it was just wonderful for us.

Coming back home : My parents weren't home so we decided to accompany Rene who was home alone with the dogs. This was when we started opening the wedding gifts and counting angpows and thanking relatives. We were amazed at how generous people were, and the angpows far exceeded our expectations because we didn't have a lavish wedding dinner where everyone was invited.

Going back to his place : When my parents came home from their trip to West Msia, JW and I moved out and stayed at his parents' place instead. I felt so sad every time I had to leave my own house (we usually went over for dinner) - I can only imagine what brides of the olden days felt when they had to move far away from home and join an entirely new family. It was also during this time that I got my new watch (wedding gift from the parents).

Leaving for Bali : We had a relaxing vacation at Bali at an awesome hotel called Kamar-Kamar Boutique Hotel. Go check it out on Agoda and Tripadvisor, it has some pretty high ratings and it's affordable too. The service was tip-top and I had this beautiful view from our HUGE room - mmmmm. So nice. However, we were in a higher-end tourist district called Seminyak, so eating out and shopping wasn't exactly cheap. Also, in terms of culture and language, Indonesia isn't too different from Malaysia so there wasn't a wow factor there. Overall, though, we had a great time just chilling during this second honeymoon.

I think that pretty much sums up the whole month, and the only thing missing from this post are pictures. But I'm really too lazy to upload them here, and if you read my blog you're probably a Facebook friend too and you can just view the pics there. Over and out. =P
