Updates on Wedding Prep 3

So it seems I have a long weekend this week - my school took Monday off.

I like long weekends. Haha who doesn't. But it's nice to be able to kick back and relax, and think of all the wonderful time-wasting things you can do WITHOUT feeling guilty or rushing for time. Like shopping, for instance, and blogging, which I'm doing right now.

First of all, UPDATES on wedding preparations. During the March hols, I managed to settle a lot of stuff such as the wedding dress (can I hear a Yay!) and makeup. That's...A LOT of stuff ok. You have no idea how long it takes just to find a wedding dress. I basically spent 3-4 days spread out over a span of 6 months trying to find THE perfect dress...

...and realized it doesn't exist. Not within my budget, at least.

I really shouldn't have so many ideals. Well, the point is, I DID find a dress that I liked enough, even though it did not fit every single criteria I wanted (such as a black sash or something to break the monotony of white), but at least it isn't poofy, has a sweetheart neckline, is within my budget, and seems to flatter my bodyshape. For more info, come to my wedding. Or wait for photos. xD

Oh and the invitations are out too! Most people complimented the cute card. Thanks Eddie for the awesome idea (that you googled, but I'll give you credit for it anyway =P). Everyone seems to be happy for me, and I can't help but feel puzzled because I usually don't feel so much for people I don't know very well.

I am relieved that things are finally materializing and the wedding isn't some abstract thing set in the future. Now I can finally visualize it - I can imagine what I'll look like and how things will be. With my poor powers of visualization, it takes an almost complete picture to achieve that. So, you can probably tell that most things are settled, and all I have to do is attend the rehearsal and the wedding (and remind those involved, and get a mani-pedi, and pick up the dress).

The work hasn't ended, but it's a manageable amount now.

Time for some self-reflection.

1. Did I enjoy the process of planning a wedding?
Honestly, not really. If I were to rate the enjoyment on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being absolute torture and 10 being absolute bliss, I'd say it was about a 5, only balanced out by the fun part of picking out a dress and the excitement of getting married. All the other details were tedious and all over the place, and some could only be settled a few months down the road. Not to mention I was working with a budget and studying at the same time, so I had to cram the prep into holidays.

2. What do I feel about the budget?
It's more economical than most people's, but I still feel that the money can be put to better use than a ceremony. Right now I'm at about 8k including the honeymoon (not sure how much the food for the reception will cost yet but I'm alloting about 2k for that). Somehow 8k feels wrong for a CEREMONY. I could help so many people with that money.

3. What am I looking forward to the most?
Being with him! I just want him to come back, I want all this preparation and fuss to be over, and I just want to be quiet with him and soak in his presence blissfully. If I had a choice, I'd choose to be married without the wedding ceremony, if that makes sense.

I can't wait for May 31st.
